Brighton Neighbour Feature No. 4
Tell us a bit about yourself and your family:
Cory and I met in Mexico, found out we lived in the same city in California, and the rest was history. Cory was born in Regina, SK and studied in the States so we dated, got married and started a family there. An opportunity opened up for him here in Saskatoon and we moved here in 2019. We have 2 kids. Hunter is 6, Mackenzie is 4. We have a Labradoodle named Cabo. We love baseball and consider ourselves foodies.
Why did you choose to move to Brighton and what do you like most about living here?
We moved to Brighton mid-July of 2020 and back then, a lot of Brighton was still under construction. We decided it was a good fit for our family, with the convenience of having everything close by- our dentist, eye doctor, gym, grocery, amazing (probably the best) parks in the city. And of course, the house we most liked!
What do you like the most about the street you live on?
If there is yet another insane snowstorm like last year’s, when cars can’t even get out of the driveway, I can easily walk to Save-On-Foods and grab us some groceries. Also, we can easily get to 3 parks from our house, which eliminates the need to buy my kids a backyard swing set. Last but not the least, we have the best next-door neighbours.
What do you love most about your home?
This is probably the only house Cory and I agreed on, working with our budget while offering over 2000 sq ft in space for our family. Ehrenberg’s kitchen design in this model is great for home bakers like myself with lots of cabinet storage, and a walk in pantry. The backyard has a big enough space for our doodle to play lots of fetch too.
What do your kids love the most about your home and the community?
Our kids felt right at home after moving to Brighton. Bigger the space meant more room for them to gather all their toys for an assembly. Just kidding! but I’m sure some will relate to that. Ha! Their most favorite part of Brighton is riding their bikes to the Core Park. They absolutely loooove the Core Park.
What is something unique or something special about your family.
Cory has played baseball professionally (with KC Royals MiLB) and co-owned and opened Inside Pitch Baseball and Softball Academy in Saskatoon. (which was the reason for moving to Saskatoon). I pursued my love of baking cookies and started FozBakes before the pandemic happened. (I worked in the financial industry for 14 years before moving to Canada). Fun Fact about us: Cory and I met at a pool bar in Cabo San Lucas Mexico hence why our puppy is named Cabo.
